Pastor Kevin G. Rushing
Pastor Kevin G. Rushing was born the eldest of three to Pastor Melvin and Carolyn Walter Rushing in Baton Rouge, LA along with siblings Keith C. and Kendra M. Rushing.
He committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1987 at the Second Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, under the leadership of Dr. Leo D. Cyrus and answered a call to the preaching ministry in 2001. Rev. Rushing received ministerial training at the United Baptist Church under his father in the ministry, Bishop Kenneth W. Paramore, Sr. for more than 11 years and served in the various capacitates including Choir Member, Director and Campus Ministry Fellowship Pastor.
Pastor Rushing graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He received a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Master of Arts in Black Church Studies from Ashland Theological Seminary. Pastor Rushing is currently pursing a Doctor of Ministry degree in Black Church Studies.
On June 3, 2010, Rev. Rushing became Pastor of the United Baptist Church of Akron Ohio where his vision of rebuilding, “physically, spiritually, mentally, and collectively,” has led United to turn the motto of, “Saving Souls and Salvaging Lives,” into the mission expanding the church outside the four walls of the building and into the community to share the love of Jesus with the lost and the broken which is evident through the work the church does in/for neighboring schools Schumacher and Buchtel CLC.
Pastor Rushing has previously served as the Director/Bursar of Student Accounts at the University of Akron for 15 years and is currently serving as the Bursar at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.
Pastor Rushing is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Eta Tau Lambda Chapter. He has served on the Red Oak Behavioral Health Board as Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and currently serves as the Endowment Chair. Pastor Rushing has been the Chaplain for the Buchtel Boys Basketball team and continues to work with students in the Buchtel Cluster.

Lady Svette Rushing
Lady Svette Rushing is the third daughter born on July 4, 1967, to the late Sylvester and Georgia Richardson. A native of Akron, Ohio, she matriculated through the Akron Public Schools, graduating in 1985 from Central-Hower High School, where she studied chairside dental assisting.
Her love for dentistry led her to further her education, earning her Certified Ohio Dental Assistant license in 1995. She was later accepted into the Case Western Reserve University Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary Program, graduating in the fall of 1997. With over 40 years of experience serving in many facets of dentistry, Lady Svette’s greatest joy is building the self-confidence of others and helping them achieve their dream smile.
Lady Svette accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and began developing her Christian Walk at United Baptist Church in 1981. Since that time, she has faithfully served in ministry, always committed to advancing the Kingdom of God.
In 2008, Lady Svette became the proud wife of Rev. Kevin G. Rushing. She takes her roles seriously as a devoted wife, loving mother to her beautiful daughter LeChelle and son-in-law Diontre, proud grandmother of Jayland and Jordyn, and a faithful servant of the Kingdom of God.
Lady Svette is a model First Lady and a true woman of character, carrying out her calling to serve alongside her husband with grace, humility, and devotion.
